Local authorities falling behind on new building inspections
Figures obtained by the Business Post show that more than one in four local authorities are not on course to meet their targets
More than one in four county councils are behind on the required number of inspections on new buildings in their areas over the first nine months of the year.
The National Oversight and Audit Commission (NOAC), a state body in charge of overseeing the local government sector, sets inspection targets for councils. Figures obtained by the Business Post show that eight of the country’s 31 local authorities are falling short of these targets.
