Even in her resignation statement Liz Truss, the outgoing British prime minister, continued to indulge the Brexit fantasy that got her, her predecessors, the entire Tory party and the whole of Britain into the mess in which it finds itself.

“We set out a vision for a low-tax, high-growth economy that would take advantage of the freedoms of Brexit,“ Truss said in that 90-second statement.
