Varadkar: Fine Gael must ensure Sinn Féin ‘are stopped’ in the next election

Leo Varadkar has said the next election will be the “most important in a generation”, as he set out Fine Gael’s priorities for the remainder of the term of the coalition government.

Speaking at the party’s ard fheis in Athlone last night, Varadkar, who will assume the office of Taoiseach next month, said that his party wanted to ensure that the “centre holds” and that Sinn Féin “are stopped”.
