Euro zone unemployment stable at 11.6%

Euro zone unemployment remained stable at 11.6 per cent in May, not far from the record high of 12 per cent recorded last year, Eurostat data showed today.

The figures confirm that the recovery is still too slow to spur job creation in all euro zone countries.

In May, about 18.5 million were unemployed in the 18 countries sharing the euro, 28,000 fewer than in April.
